Michael Birdsell
Michael teaches philosophy at both Anne Arundel and Prince George’s Community Colleges near Annapolis, MD. He completed a master's in classical studies from the Graduate Institute at St. John’s College in Annapolis. Michael has a diverse background in academia. In 2019, he gained certification to teach online college courses. Since then, he has built multiple online courses, two of them as part of national grants. His philosophy seminar course was built as part of a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) grant and in partnership with his alma mater, St. John's College. This was an interdisciplinary project that included the Philosophy, English, and History departments at Anne Arundel Community College. Michael has taught in the U.S. and abroad and provides tutoring for a wide array of humanities subjects, though most of his effort is focused on helping students as an Academic Coach. He graduated with a B.S. from the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences at Arizona State University, followed by post-baccalaureate studies in Education. Michael then received a Master of Arts in Liberal Arts from St. John’s Graduate Institute in Annapolis, MD. He has experience and training working with students who have Executive Function Disorder, ADD, and ADHD.
